Before you choose 1 kW
- Hybrid at 1 kW still receives the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, the same as on-grid — RSK’s hybrid installs are grid-tied and net-metered, not disconnected from PSPCL.
- Off-grid does not receive the subsidy, at any size, because it is not net-metered.
- A 1 kW system needs at least 1 kW of sanctioned load. Most homes already have more.

What is the price of a 1 kW solar system in Punjab?
A hybrid 1 kW system costs ₹85,000 – 95,000 installed. After the PM Surya Ghar subsidy of ₹30,000, a home pays ₹55,000 – 65,000. RSK does not install on-grid systems this small — 3 kW is the smallest on-grid system we offer. An off-grid system at 1 kW costs ₹80,000 – 90,000, but does not qualify for the subsidy. The final price depends on the roof, the mounting structure, cable runs and the panel model.
How much subsidy do I get on a 1 kW system?
₹30,000 for a home, whether the system is on-grid or hybrid — RSK's hybrid systems are grid-tied and net-metered, so they qualify the same way on-grid does. It is paid into your bank account 30 to 45 days after PSPCL inspects the system, not deducted from the price. Off-grid systems, businesses and industry do not get it; housing societies get ₹18,000 per kW for common facilities.
How many units does a 1 kW solar system generate in Punjab?
About 102 units a month, or 1,224 a year, at the conservative figure we use for estimates. Output is higher from March to June and lower in December and January and on hazy days.
How much roof space does a 1 kW system need?
About 100 sq ft of shade-free roof, at roughly 100 sq ft per kW including access space between rows.
What sanctioned load do I need for a 1 kW system?
At least 1 kW. In Punjab a rooftop system cannot exceed your sanctioned load, which is printed on your electricity bill. If yours is lower, apply to PSPCL for load enhancement before applying for the subsidy.
