UTL Solar compared with other solar brands
No brand leads on everything, UTL included. Here is where UTL is ahead, where it is level and where another brand may suit you better, using the figures each company publishes itself.
Updated 15 September 2026
UTL’s clearest advantage is range. It sells every part of a home solar system under one brand: panels, on-grid string inverters from 1.5 kW to 125 kW, hybrid and off-grid PCUs, tubular and lithium batteries, and charge controllers. On panel warranties it is level with the big panel makers. On inverters and batteries it is level with Luminous and Microtek overall, ahead on some models and behind on others.
Who makes what
| Brand | Panels | Solar inverters and PCUs | Batteries | Installed systems |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UTL Solar | Yes | Yes, 675 VA to 125 kW | Tubular, SMF, lithium | Through distributors such as RSK Solar Energy |
| Luminous | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not listed |
| Microtek | Yes | Yes | Yes | Grid-tied solutions listed |
| Tata Power Solar | In its systems | In its systems | Battery-based systems listed | Yes, through its own partners |
| Waaree | Yes | Yes | Not listed | Rooftop kits listed |
| Adani Solar | Yes | Not listed | Not listed | Not listed |
“Not listed” only means we did not find it on the brand page we checked. The brand may still sell it.
Panel efficiency
UTL’s 630 Wp TOPCon panel lists the highest efficiency of the four. The difference is real but small. On a 3 kW system it changes the roof area needed by a few square feet, and the system size stays the same.
Warranty on a solar PCU
Batteries: the 150 Ah tubular
| Battery | Warranty, as published |
|---|---|
| Luminous Inverlast ILTT 18060 PRO, 150 Ah | 36 months free, then 24 months pro-rata |
| UTL UIT16036, 150 Ah | 36 + 24 months |

On the standard 150 Ah tubular battery the two brands offer the same term. Before you compare warranties, check whether each one is free replacement or pro-rata.

Questions we are asked
Which solar brand is best in India?
There is no single best brand for every system. For a complete home system from one brand, UTL covers panels, inverters, batteries and charge controllers. For panels alone, Waaree and Adani publish power warranties that match UTL's, and Tata Power Solar sells a fully installed system through its own partner network.
Is UTL Solar a good brand?
UTL makes panels, inverters, PCUs, batteries and charge controllers, and publishes full specifications for them. Its 545 W TOPCon panel lists a 30-year performance warranty, the same term as the Waaree and Adani TOPCon modules we checked, and its 630 Wp TOPCon panel lists 23.32% efficiency.
Does RSK Solar Energy sell brands other than UTL?
Yes. RSK Solar Energy is a UTL Solar distributor and also stocks Luminous, Polycab and Fujiyama Solar products.
